I'm an old hobbyist repairing neglected and so-called 'not worth repair' violins. Plus I'm a musician too. Wankel

Your infamous bluegrass host for our generation and one of his many original compositions. We will be releasing his new tune "Here Comes Trouble" soon.

I stand with Canada and will not buy any big business alcohol. No Jack etc I'll stick to MN Craft Brewers. Maybe moonshine too as long as its small batch local.

#177. FrankenFiddle. German trade violin. Had a nice body but the neck was too narrow at the nut. Poorly carvedNeck. So I pulled one off a scrapper and sanded down to fit this body. It's only the 3rd time I robbed "Peter to save Paul".
First I named Voldemort,
Second one I named "StradiStainerHopf"

went to the St. Louis Park jam today.. had a good time.. played in the key of D. Bunch of tunes I'm unfamiliar with.
I'm hoping we get a few more old-time fiddlers joining Bluesky as I'm fed up with Meta sell out.

I'm starting rescue #174. A little center seam closure and a top crack repair, neck installation, peg job and I have no case or bow either. But after all that, if it sounds great, risk will payoff, and another fiddle rescued.

#172: I have this fingerboard filed and sanded down to size per Strobel book standard. 4.7mm thick on E side and 5.5mm thick on G side. Now I wait until I can reassemble the body. Tomorrow..

Since COVID, I have rescued 171 fiddles as my retirement hobby. The repairing part is busy work with minimal tool expenditure. The only expenses are the pegs fingerboard, tailpieces cases strings and bows. Labor is my gift for the love of fiddles.

I'm still fixing up neglected fiddles in the Minneapolis area. I'll buy damaged old fiddles and make them sing again.

I am installing purfling on a homemade fiddle I acquired. This is a learning experience. But whoever made this fiddle to begin with, created a sonically pleasing sound.
