Shout out to the train manager on the @lner.co.uk 12 noon train from Edinburgh to London Kings Cross. We got stuck behind a broken down train, are running 25 mins late, and he is checking everyone’s connections, arranging for trains to wait, generally doing a good job. I wish I wasn’t so amazed…

This weekend is the last time you can catch Barry Le Va: In A State of Flux at Fruitmarket, the exhibition closes on Sunday. Rarely do you get the opportunity to see the work of the master of post minimalism in the flesh. Open 11am–6pm daily.

I’m so looking forward to this, having seen it in development last year, also @fruitmarket.bsky.social . It’s a gloriously melancholy, miserable, uplifting thing that’s perfect for late January. Especially this year….

Looking forward to being in conversation with Karla Black about Barry Le Va @fruitmarket.bsky.social tonight - 6.30pm. If in Edinburgh, do come along (it’s free). If not, we’ll record it and put it up on our website as soon as we can.

Listening to review of Lockerbie on Front Row talking about how little art has addressed the tragedy. Reminded of Nathan Coley’s brilliant work as artist observer at the trial. We showed his Witness Box at Fruitmarket in 2004.

Good words from Barry Le Va for 1st post here:
‘I draw most of the time. I draw wherever I am. I draw to be alone with myself. I draw to discover and clarify my thoughts. I draw to concentrate on my thoughts. I draw to visualise my thoughts. I draw to convince myself my thoughts are worth pursuing’
