Received a new hatchery catalog and although I’m not sure I’ll add chicks to the flock this year, it’s fun to look at all the breeds. Of course ever since the husband saw the photo on my 2026 wall calendar, he’s been wanting a crested Polish. We’ll see.The hard part is going to be choosing colors!

Although I typically keep my Christmas decorations up until after New Years Day, I decided to take down my outdoor wreaths and garland. It’s 64 degrees right now but a cold front is moving in later today with 50 to 60 mph winds and temps dropping down into the teens for the unforeseen future.

I got myself a Boxing Day present; an art light. I have been wanting to illuminate this oil painting for the longest time. I commissioned it from landscape artist, Mark Flickinger, in the 1980’s. It is called “Turkey Run Canyon”. He painted it on site, which is 22 miles from where I now live.

Some friends gave me an Ulbricht handmade figure from Germany. He is the “Waldmännchen”, the little man of the forest, with his hat, staff, mushroom, and pinecones. I see the resemblance, don’t you?
