Hey everyone, I'm Feryste (pronounced fur-East), an artist, tech worker and licensed bird ringer.

Samantha is always so kind to show us around New York City whenever Kalena and I are in town. The snow picked up quite a bit while we were enjoying evening Christmas festivities in Central Park. Sam guides us to safety through the Central Park Mall.

Since I'm going to be out of work until at least January, I was thinking about potentially using some of the redundancy pay to take some courses. The last one I did was in 2019, so it'll be good to brush up and see what's new.
It's a bit risky to use that money but would be a good use of time too.

Since my career started I've only ever had one bad interview... but I just had a second one yesterday :( it has left me feeling like I will never get another job.
I am still employed till next week but not actually working. Hoped to get something new quickly but that was wishful thinking in Dec.

I've been ill recently but finally feeling like myself again! Went for a stroll in the woods this morning and it was magical. Plenty of small birds waking up and also heard my favourite bird song, the Mistle Thrush, which I rarely hear around these parts!

This was working so well and then last night one of the legs of my easel collapsed and the whole thing came crashing down and now my painting is dented :< it's stretched canvas so could be fixable.
I'm replacing the thumb nuts on the easel with wing nuts so this doesn't happen again >V<

Someone at work who also paints gave me an awesome piece of advice: leave your work and materials laid out in front of you ready to use all the time instead of packing them away.
