It's finally done, I can't believe it. After months, I have finally plotted every single Atlantic hurricane landfall on record.

There are approximately 1,167 hurricane landfalls listed. This is so unreal to look at.

It's finally done. Over 3 days of hand-plotting 173 years' worth of data. The end result is unbelievable.

What an incredible dataset to look at.

Two really interesting (at least to me) plots of motion vectors for all landfalling New England hurricanes.

As geography and wind patterns permit, a NE motion is most common, with only two storms (1938 and 1896) exhibiting slight westward motions. Super cool data here!

On November 25th, 2016, after making landfall as a Category 3, Hurricane OTTO survived the crossover from Atlantic to Pacific Basins, the first storm to do so since CESAR-DOUGLAS 1996.

OTTO was the southernmost landfalling hurricane in Central America history, beating Hurricane IRENE-OLIVIA 1971.

On November 20th, 1985, Hurricane KATE reached peak intensity before coming the latest landfalling hurricane in US history.

It was the first hurricane to strike the FL Panhandle since ELOISE 1975, and the most recent November hurricane landfall in Florida until NICOLE 2022.

Another hurricane season, and another miss for New England.

BOB 1991 was the last hurricane to strike New England. The last major hurricane was CAROL 1954. The region is overdue in both categories by decades.

Luck will run out eventually. 33 years and counting...

Incredible “bomb cyclone” off the west coast of North America this evening.

Textbook definition of a powerhouse cyclone. WOW!
