uhm anyway finally 100%'ed silksong. great game. my favorite boss battles in no particular order are cogwork dancers, clover dancers, widow, first sinner, and grand mother silk. honorable mention to the lace fights which were also fun

silksong's japanese localization is nowhere Near as 残念 as hollow knight's, which suffers from an Extreme case of Prose And Idioms That Were Way Above The Translator's English Comprehension Level; Native English Speaking Bilingual Proofreader Not Hired, but its errors r just. oof its not great

hollow knight silksong screencap of the lost verdania throne room, a black stone building overgrown with lush green clover. premier wife guy (gender-neutral) green prince, a green and yellow male mantis, stands at the center of the room, looking at his and his late husband's thrones, which are conjoined so as to share their middle armrest for maximum hand holding. protagonist hornet, a head and shoulders shorter bug with a white v-shaped head and a red cloak holding a sewing needle, stands to the side. she is trying to comfort green prince by explaining that pharloom destroying his country and killing his partner is not his fault and there's nothing he could have done. hornet's dialogue, displayed at the top of the screen: "you were mortal bugs, caught beneath a being pale... devotion or destruction... these are the only fates my kind allow." by "being pale" hornet refers to pharloom's ruling deity grand mother silk, the orb weaver god of needlework and thread, who is a white higher being (god) like her father the pale king and his wife/hornet's surrogate mother figure white lady. such white higher beings are referred to as "pale beings" in-game. hornet speaks from the experience of having had front row seats to her father's behavior in the previous game's setting. elsewhere in-game she mentions struggling with similar possessive and controlling urges, which she inherited from her father.

More than anything, though, fascists set up real-life trolley problems to get people to agree to their horrific premises: that there must be people tied to the trolley tracks, that the trolley must run down the tracks no matter who is killed, that talking about the horrors that ensue is an offense against civility greater than the horrors themselves; that rescuing people from death is more dangerous to a properly ordered society than is condemning them to death; that stopping the trolley or fouling the track is a violent crime in a way that running people over with a train car is not. Fascists set up real-life trolley problems because it gives them a framework and justification for removing all options that a sensible and empathetic person would pursue, so they can convince their opponents that the pursuit of sensible and empathetic things is both wrong and impractical.
