The past year of tech stock gains erased.

A small price to pay as long as government workers don’t have to put pronouns in their email signatures anymore.

LET’S RIDE
If Donald Trump can override our elected officials’ control of the purse strings, we are effectively entering a period of taxation without representation.

So news is now scripted by the WH. Where’s the outrage from the folks who love to chaotically shout about “liberal commies”? 🤔

Controlling (and killing) women wasn’t willful collateral damage, it was the point.
When you consider that the men who orchestrated the gutting of reproductive rights knew it’d kill untold numbers of women and nevertheless worked really really really hard to make sure those rights were taken away and those women killed, I’d say they should definitely be seen as having a body count
According to ProPublica, dozens more pregnant and postpartum women have died in Texas hospitals since abortion bans were implemented, compared with maternal deaths in the state immediately before the pandemic.

This, y’all. This is the energy that would have saved us six months ago. The moral hand-wringing and infighting over perfect alignment of platforms and ideals has got to fkng stop. Whines of “but I don’t liiiiike …” are asinine in the face of a fight against fascism.
I started following @aoc.bsky.social. I've never been her biggest fan, honestly. (This is a safe space 😉). I disagree with her on many of her platforms. However, she is a very visible and vocal antipode to MTG, Lake, Noem, and others. She is who we need right now at the podium. She deserves support.

Digital copies of banned books will start disappearing. It is a matter of *when* not *if*

So snag those physical copies, and for the love of Dolly, not from that massive online place.

btw in 538 Americans, you can expect to find 12 w a DUI arrest, 1.3 sex offenders, and 1.6 gang members.

“ICE says it has made 538 arrests so far, and Rep. Nicole Malliotakis says those include arrests in New York of an MS-13 gang member, a sex offender and a drunk driver.”
Yesterday, ICE raided a business in New Jersey and detained both citizens and non-citizens — without a warrant. They even detained a U.S. military veteran.

Nobody is safe.

It's like awakening from sleepwalking to realize how easy it is to buy things without using Amazon. I just got an ergonomic keyboard for my Mac for $20 less than Amazon by buying it directly from the manufacturer.

Plus, free shipping. Just sayin'!

While I would love for my ancestral country to take me in, I think “deportation” is actually a euphemism for something a lot darker and permanent.
Elected Republican officials are already calling for U.S. citizens to be deported for saying things they dislike. It's only the second full day of the Trump administration.

How bad would you say it's going to get, now that a plurality of American voters have given the keys to the kingdom to madmen?

Incredibly dangerous for the (women) who turned them in.
With pardons, January 6 offenders are now free to possess firearms and ammunition again. Their convictions would have made that a federal crime, but no more.

There’s a lot you could analyze here, but I’m struck most by two things.

-Less than one-third of the country is holding us all hostage. (Not an evil majority.)
-If you voted third-party/sat this one out as a form of protest, go straight to the front of the leopards-eating-faces line.
Just saying.

Unbelievably petty! The Spanish language version of the White House website was deleted after the inauguration yesterday.

Nothing more than a stunt. The only reason they went dark was to kiss the ring. The law that went into effect stipulated that the app must be removed from US app stores, which it was. Locking out users just to let them back in and credit/praise Trump was a *calculated choice*
Four years of tech companies finding new and more innovative ways to kiss the ring is going to get old fast.

A lot of the crying nepo babies have never had to compete against more than a sliver of the population, and it shows.
this confirms something i have long suspected, which is that certain people are told that their professional and academic failures are because of “affirmative action” or “DEI” as a way to avoid difficult conversations about their mediocrity www.wsj.com/lifestyle/ca...
You Blamed DEI for Hurting Your Career. Now What?
For people who pin their failures on diversity, corporate America’s DEI retreat removes a barrier—or maybe an excuse.

I’m not saying we shouldn’t applaud Michelle Obama (we should), but are we sure she’s making a stand and not experiencing something else? Missing a presidential funeral is not a small thing to chalk up to a scheduling conflict. And now a second absence.
Former first lady Michelle Obama will skip the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump, the second time in two weeks that she is not attending a gathering of former U.S. leaders and their spouses, but former Presidents Barack Obama, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush will be there.
