Nerdy bibliomaniac, obsessed with music, writer, obnoxiously northern, bisexual, working class and disabled- sort of like a glorious, curious pick’n’mix from Woolworths. But gluten free.
In which I get a shock, promise not to procrastinate & prepare to shake up my life (on purpose not on the fly & everything)

I only rock up to drop links here & bugger off again. Who am I not following that I should be? Music nerds, obnoxious Northerners, ppl with improbable medical conditions, queer, woke, writers, poets, readers likely to die by their tbr pile collapsing - you there?

In other news I got interviewed by Penny Black. It's normally me writing for them so this is novel.
I have renewed empathy for the people I interview too, it's weird seeing someone else write up what you said. John is a diamond tho. He edited me skillfully!

Breaking our surgery cherry open.substack.com/pub/fiona130...

Who has two thumbs & needs two surgeries? This guy.

Mentions cancer but I don't have cancer. It's also not another brain surgery. There is (virtual) cake & an unexpected appearance by Zeus because why not...

Psychodrama open.substack.com/pub/fiona130...

I can not tell you have tempted I am to change all my profile pics to ones of me brandishing a weapon or smeared in Tesco ketchup blood. I suspect some would find it shocking and others... wouldn't.
Parenting, procrastination & Poe tho....

Such a good afternoon of poetry, metaphors and snakes 😁
Turns out I don’t know how to teach without piles & post-its. Ready for a little talk about metaphor at Sheffield Hallam tonight. Old Post Office, 6.30pm, free & open to all. Also reading from Nowhere Near As Safe As A Snake In Bed #poetry #metaphor #poetrybluesky #bookSky

So. The idea is I post every Sunday because in the past regular blog type writing has kept me more in the zone for other writing. Plus some excellent ideas have started life as an idea in a blog

So. Seems like this is the one safe enough place in the social media universe?
If we leave the other places totally are we letting the hate win? Losing lots of every days we didn’t even realising we were capturing but preserving what’s left of our sanity?

I’m not NOT doing me uni work. I’m just ALSO creating another epic playlist… the videos I’d make to go with them… the order I’d perform them in Wembley…
(I hope music never stops making me smile because at that point I know I’m done.)

Apparently I’m back.
Leaving a social media platform for a new one used to be exciting. I’m now old enough for it to feel like getting a new mobile phone & having to enter all my stored numbers manually instead.
Anyway. Hi 👋🏻

Sums it up nicely
Bluesky for me feels less like a loss of Twitter and more of a New Game+

I start over fresh but I retain all the skills and knowledge from my last run

Ooo brand new place to seek refuge from the trash can fire of Twitter you say?
Today I was reminded how good most people are, even if they have to turn down a request for example, a clear but kind response can make all the difference. Meant a ‘no’ didn’t spoil the day, it actually enhanced it 😊
