Was having my morning coffee and burst out laughing when I remembered that the stadium PA at the Aviva played Sweet Caroline with 20 minutes to go while South Africa were bulldozing Ireland off the pitch and half the crowd joined in. Incredible stuff

She's perfect for the time we live in. Absolutely morally bankrupt in a way most people couldn't comprehend
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said today that the fight against climate change was not against the fuels that cause it — only the pollution they emit.
Von der Leyen says EU is not fighting fossil fuels, only emissions
The comment could undermine European countries’ push at COP30 to move away from coal, oil and gas.

I live in a fairly remote area so was concerned about a large blue van parked across from my gaff all day but it's ok, it was just the Fairy Council of Ireland delivering fairies

Had the most David Brent moment of my life in work earlier when I needed a set of keys off 2 young fellas and in my best Arnie Terminator voice said "I want your keys, your boots, and your motorcycle" they just stared blankly and I made it worse by trying to explain it to them. I do this a lot now.

Imagine the embarrassment of being eaten by a hippo?! Like a crocodile or a shark is a respectable way to go but a fucking hippo. Like being eaten alive by a huge slippery cow
Years and years ago a friend of the family married a girl from Tanzania and she was telling us about how floods were bad enough in their own right but on top of all that damage they'd bring the hippos into town.

Crocodiles were easy to outrun or confuse, but hippos were pure lethal.

To be fair to Jim O'Callaghan, he, like everyone else in Fianna Fail is committed to ensuring Ireland is not viewed more favourable than the UK even by the people who already live here
Justice and Migration Minister Jim O'Callaghan said he's committed to ensuring Ireland is 'not viewed more favourably than the UK by those seeking to claim asylum'.

His statement comes following proposed reforms to the UK's asylum practices

Lads, that unbelievable dose you have is called Covid. You don't have to pretend that it is something else, something mysterious. It is everywhere at the moment. It is not a heavy cold. There's no shame, it's around a while now.
