So much fun at Pub Choir tonight, absolutely worth the earworm that will stay with my me for a long time. My face hurts from smiling and my throat knows it’s been singing loudly!
Wellington And Christchurch - there are still tickets left for shows this week - it’s a fab night out!

We went down about 1030. Stunning. Possibly the most magical natural phenomenon after the Aurora.
Palm Beach, Waiheke. Right now
Nerd fact (I’m a marine biologist after all), when luciferin and luciferase (gotta love the biblical names) join together, they react with the oxygen in the air to make an oxidised complex. After that, luciferin emits a photon, and that is what you see when it breaks

Didn’t expect that. Feels it too.

Had a nice walk. Little Palm to Sandy Bay via Hekekrua Bay and back. Swim at Hekerua.

About 5km. 1h 45 plus the swim. Lovely to get out on the island.

While US venture capitalists were buying monkey jpegs, and DOGE coins, and figuring out how to get Black women fired, and tweeting about white birthrates, and trying to mandate which bathroom trans kids should use, China was making progress on climate change and taking the lead in a real industry.
China has made cheap, clean energy available in huge quantities. The world should take the win econ.st/4oqFszB

Coworker in CHCH just got solar.

Sun is up for 12 hours now.

It’s making about 12kw. Battery charges 20-95% by about 10am. Export to grid for rest of day (5kw max)

Uses battery for all of the peak period at night, and a lot of the night.

Around $40k. So repayments would be about $800/m over 3y
This is progress. Imagine the game changer for life if electricity was nearly free or free.
Australia has so much electricity from solar power that it is going to start offering free electricity to everyone for at least three hours during the day as the wholesale price of power goes negative

Australia's extensive solar power penetration makes so much energy that the government wants to offer free electricity at peak hours.

And they dont come back for MONTHS. Same with Kaka.

Possibly won’t hear many here until after Christmas now.
We live near a gully. Most nights of the year we can hear ruru calling, up & down the fence-lines & gully. Once the fireworks start they go silent 😭

The right once a day clock is right.
I want to think he shat himself at fireworks last night, prompting him to pen a stern letter to the editor in the form of a bill, but it's more likely he was - like me - cuddling his scared dog, so I'm with him on this occasion.

Let's call time on Fuckwit Christmas.

Huh, even the nation’s chain-smoking drunk homophobic racist uncle is saying fireworks should be banned now. I didn’t have that on my bingo card.

Mobile app accessibility people, is there any way to incorporate accessibility in to automated tests? Ideally I'd like to be able to export the current accessibility info to a snapshot of some sort so we'd know if something had changed it.

Couldn't actually tell if that Elon-on-Rogan video was legit, AI, badly edited, or just... Elon being Elon

It's the last one. 1h38 or so into the episode.

Anyone know what the bike parking situation is around Western Springs Stadium?

Going to Rufus du Sol and want to cycle. There’s a lockydock at MOTAT but… inside? Staff parking?
