Do not worry, with enough time, earnest effort, and individuality crushing course material, anyone can be a proper lady in no time and fix up even the most drab of writing!
A note that constantly shifts between the tone of a delighted student and the original personality trying to break away, it reads: Dearest Headmistress, Now that I have finished my first term at this esteemed academy, you need to let me out of this hellhole!! I see other people leaving, but I can’t even open my goddamn bedroom door! You can’t just keep me here, it’s absurd and I feel so utterly grateful that I have been allowed to stay here throughout the break. Not every student is given such an honor, and I must thank you from the bottom of my heart that I’ve been given such a chance. I cannot help but smile down from my dormitory window as I write this line, no matter how much I want to bang and scream on the window begging for someone to let me out. I feel like I’m a passenger in my own body, I can’t act like me anymore and it's thanks to the wonderful ways of this fine school of learning that I have shed all those behaviors entirely. I no longer instinctively reach for a phone I no longer let distract me. I never slouch, always smile, and show appreciation and grace in all things. I now spend more time practicing my braids and lace tying than I ever would on those infernal video games. I feel so isolated, none of these girls are really my friends. And I haven’t spoken to a person from my actual life in… I don’t even know. It makes my blood boil that I can’t even remember the last time I got to say hi to the people who are probably worried sick about me. Perhaps, with some good fortune, those poor souls will one day find themselves enrolled in this academy as well. IF YOU DON’T LEAVE THEM ALONE I SWEAR TO- If there is anything you require of me during this holiday break, please do not hesitate to ask of me, Headmistress. You have done so much for me, and now I know that it is my most innate duty to return that favor. “Thank you, Headmistress!” Your brow furrowed as soon as the words crawled their way out of your mouth. The moment felt so strange you couldn’t fight the full body shudder right as you felt yourself lock up in perfect posture. As much as you tried to fight it, the corners of your mouth turned into a vacant smile as you stared in worried disbelief at the woman before you. She nodded at you in approval, a motion that made your cheeks turn flush despite your disdain for this woman. You knew that you’d tried to tell her to shove off, that you’d have never thanked her of all things. And yet your voice disagreed. Even as you stood there, practically begging yourself to just cuss her out, you stood still, smiling like an idiot as she reveled in her success. “If you don’t have any other things to say dear, please join the rest of the class. And do apologize for your silly little outburst.” She responded, hiding her spiteful glee behind a calm exterior. “Of course, Headmistress!” You exclaimed in a sing-song voice that felt like sludge forcing its way through your lips. Without a moment to even try and resist you spun around in an about-face turn, facing your classmates. Your smile was just as forced as theirs, a reminder that you were just the newest ‘student’ to get roped into this. “I’m SOOOO sorry everyone!” You exclaimed as the headmistress puppetted you, “I’ve been such a silly girl~! I promise I’ll be a model student!” And with that your body practically skipped to one of the empty desks and sat down. You tried to stand back up, to leave this ridiculous classroom. But there was no fighting it. Your body sat with perfect posture, and you couldn’t get it to move an inch from the spot you were in. As if that weren’t distressing enough, there was some part of you that was starting to really appreciate this. Some part of you that felt lucky to have such a proper education, to finally be a proper lady, a real doll of a gal…
