Adding vendors and updating the index every Friday!
I think it'll probably take 2 - 3 weeks. I'm still going to add a couple new vendors here in the that time, but I'm pretty excited to rebuild this in a way that makes parsing filter results more intuitive with better information and hopefully it'll also be faster!

Furthermore, there are some bugs that lurk in it that are just obnoxious to fix because the system was built in a rather haphazard way.

All this is to say that the next major update is going to be a complete refactor of filtering. I have some good ideas and I think they'll be a huge improvement 3/4

Right now, the data just does not have enough information about each size of each product to make filtering as robust as it needs to be. Even when it does, it doesn't do a good job making the user aware of what it actually matched. 2/4

I was going to add some new stores today, but there are a few bugs with the filtering system that I was going to fix but instead...

The current filtering system is not doing a great job. I have ideas to make it better, but they are complex and require a refactor of the entire system. 1/4

Yeah, can reproduce that in my end now too. I wonder if I made a stupid change at the 11th hour. I'll get that fixed up and shipped before the end of the day.

Thank you very much for the report too!

There has been an on-going bug with the site where certain iPads with certain versions of iOS simply cannot load the site. I have no idea why this is and of course Apple makes it as difficult to debug as possible.

I hope with the new error handling, I can at least get info on it and fix it soon.

The first chunk of the update is up and it's pretty big!

• All stores have had their catalogs refreshed
• Added a new sorting slider for dildos: Circumference.
• Added some new error handling. This doesn't fix anything today, but paves the way for tomorrow.

New Stores are coming tomorrow!

The detail here is nuts. I'm excited to see the final product!

Happy New Year everyone!

We're ringing in the new year by crawling every store by hand and making sure the Toy Box is up to date. We added about 30 toys we've missed - that update will be live on Friday along with at least 1 new vendor!

Thank you all for an awesome first year of Fantasy Toy Box!

Right?!

It's such a different approach to design and presentation in toys and the results are really stunning! I'm absolutely thrilled to bring more attention to that part of the industry!

What this actually means is that I need to think more about how the site is organized. I want to include their entire site as they have a lot of great stuff, but I just don't have a reasonable way or indexing it today.

But it will be happening soon™

I could just drop their entire catalog that doesn't fit neatly into a category into the 'Other' section. However, it draws attention to how relatively useless labeling something as 'Other'.

For now, this means that only about 60% of their store is indexed.

Primal Hardware has a LOT of different kinds of products. Instead of just a simple product line, they are truly a whole store front for this entire genre of toys.

Since Fantasy Toy Box is organized by product type, this presents a specific kind of challenge.

Today we add @primalhardwere.com to the Index, a vendor I've been agonizing over for a long time (not for any bad reasons)

Read the thread if you want me to yap about all that kind of stuff!

That wraps up 2025's Awards! I'm already excited to do this again next year only with more time to prep and more categories. I'd like to make more of a show out of it and I think we can have a lot of fun with it!

I expect to grow the Index to about about 90~ vendors before now and then too!
December 7, 2025 at 11:38 PM
This category was our one subjective category on the list. Everyone who contributed to the Toy Box this year in some way was allowed to vote and discuss their favorites. We wanted to feature toys we thought were particularly interesting, unique, well-executed and/or fun.

The final day of Awards! Thank you all who checked it out for entertaining a kind of 'end of year' recap for the first year of the site. Congrats to @master4fancy.bsky.social, @squidlyco.com, @odysseytoys.bsky.social, @were.dog and @synthsentoys.bsky.social... again :P

Fantasy Awards 2025 - Day 3: Editors Choice
December 7, 2025 at 11:30 PM
It actually comes from our site and index. If you go to our site and click around on stuff, we track what gets clicked (completely anonymously - we can't even link a user to themselves if they hit F5, the session just has an ephemeral GUID), and we use that to generate this data set.
December 7, 2025 at 8:11 PM
...But we do our best to level that off as much as we can. This year definitely is more haphazard. Next year should be better but the site's index will still be growing - time normalization will still have to happen. After that, we can likely run a 'pure' contest without having to normalize data.
December 7, 2025 at 5:40 PM
Because Vendors were not added at the same time, For any vendor that was added after July 31st, we normalize results by giving them 'time credit' by giving them 80% of their average daily interactions for time they missed. This does mean that vendors that have been listed longer have an advantage
