The study indicated half of renters in Marion County are cost-burdened, meaning they spend nearly a third of their monthly income on rent and utilities, & 25% of renters are severely cost-burdened because they spend half of their income on housing.

In the third quarter of 2025, 30% of single-family homes were bought by investors, according to data from Cotality, a real-estate data company. The company defines an investor as a buyer owning three or more properties.
