Remember, the Holocaust didn’t start with gas chambers in Auschwitz.

It started with politicians dividing the people with “us vs. them”.

It started with intolerance and hate speech.

It started when people stopped caring, became desensitized, and turned a blind eye.

Holocaust Memorial Day commenorates six million Jews and other minorities killed in the Holocaust, along with millions of other victims who suffered under the Nazis. It reminds us of the horrors of genocide, past and present and the importance of preventing this terrible crime against humanity.

It protects so many of our vital human rights, from our freedom from torture to our freedom of expression.
