Everyone always bangs on about Glenn Miller, but I liked the big bands where the bandleader was the drummer - in this case Gene Krupa - and, of course, Anita O'Day was the singer in most of the best I have.

Prospero Vint, a current WIP, went quite off the rails about 1000 words after this. How I'll get it back on the right track, who knows. It should be on the Chicago El & it's actually stuck in the London Underground between Tooting & Barking - I didn't even change lines at Morden.

I "put the sword down" over 20 years ago, now. 23 years lucky service - the nearest I got to the field of battle was flying overhead at 12,000 metres listening out for SAM batteries comms. Others are not so lucky. This is for them. #Weshallrememberthem, too.
