Chester was my dog, but he was a lot of other people's friend as well. I still have a really warm feeling knowing that several people who lived around me wanted to be at his burial.

I've had this discussion before, but my first name is pretty gender neutral, so despite the fact I'm a trans woman I never felt the need at all to go by another name. I go by evershadow online obviously, but I'm perfectly cozy with my actual name as is.
