MARIA SABA’s novella The Secret of Names won the 2023 Joy Kogawa Award. Her collection My First Friend was an Iowa Short Fiction Award semi-finalist, with its title story earning a Pushcart nomination. Born in Iran and now in Ottawa. Read her story “Crossing Borders” in EVENT 54/2.
