2025 in Games
This year might not have been great in many ways but it’s been a good gaming year for me. I didn’t play as much as I’d like to but I would like to play at least 3 hours per day and I haven’t found …

Going back in time with an older post that's still relevant. I'm repoisting this today because a lot can change in 10+ years, but some things are the fundamental blocks making up a person and they stay the same, for better or worse.

Losing my religion
Introduction Writing again and looking back to my posts the last months I noticed a very big difference with my previous blogging endeavours. My posts used to be much more personal, more descriptiv…

After some cosy autumn books, films and music back to something more serious: Politics.
iokastesrandomthoughts.wordpress.com/2025/11/09/l...
Let’s talk about politics
After some light posts it’s time to go heavy again. But we need some background here: People say that you are leaning left when you’re young and then start moving to the right when you get older, i…

Today's post is all about autumn vibes and book suggestions that fit the mood of the season:

Suggestions for the cold and rainy season
IntroductionI love autumn, it’s cosy, it’s spooky, it’s orange and brown. I’m not crazy about the daily rain, but I even like that if I’m under a blanket, watching a series with my boyfriend, knitt…

Moral Panic has been an issue forever, every generation has at least one incident to share. And while sometimes there are reasons to worry, very often there are not, and there is almost never a reason to panic. Panic is not our friend, it leads to irrationality and bad decisions.
Moral Panic
In earlier articles I mentioned moral panic, and this is a phenomenon that is not limited to gaming – though I think some people might even deny its existence.  That’s because the term i…

My Sunday afternoon post :)
Taking a break from social commentary this weekend but still talking about art in a way:

Kazuo Ishiguro
I’ve always liked reading but for several years I’ve been struggling to read, to find books I like and identify myself as a reader.  When my boyfriend introduced me to podcasts this changed ra…

After a week's break the sunday afternoon post is here. This time going a bit deeper (and still not deep enough) on what games are.

Tell me more about Games
All expressions of Art are being attacked – and have always been attacked, mostly by conservatives who see anything new as a threat to their established and safe order. Games however are bein…

Wanting to talk about games, I realised I have to talk about my relationship to art first. Because games are art, even if many people can't see that yet.

What is Art
My recent personal “crusade” is against attacks on art, that is what initially inspired me to start writing again. And yes, I know, the world is on fire and I get inspired by this incident, when th…

I read A Psalm for the Wild-Built, what a warm blanket of a book. I couldn't help but writing something about it:

A Psalm for Becky Chambers
I’ve recently finished reading A Psalm for the Wild-Built, and like everyone else who has read it I want the whole world to read it. In several of the podcasts I’m listening to, people have been pr…

When I first read 1984 I thought it was about a potential future where capitalism had gone wrong. Then I read it was about communicsm. But now it is about today. That's why I love books, they're timeless. Humanity on the other hand, I like less these days.
