I spent 50$ on this beta band ticket and all I got were no friends who would join me when the tickets went down to 6$

I’m the guy they hired to write all the archival Arthur Russell material. They actually ran out of Arthur Russell songs in 2011 and ever since it’s been me. I’m sorry you had to find out this way.

los angeles residents near and far: come watch Terror Toons at @whammyanalog.bsky.social on 9/14, when I'll be moderating a Q&A with the great Joe Castro after the movie - a movie which truly benefits from sharing the proverbial couch with 30-40 strangers. see you there!

People keep enthusiastically telling me that NYC theaters are quoting my Letterboxd reviews in their Instagram promo material like I’m supposed to care or be happy about it. I’m not a clout chaser and I’m not from NYC, I don’t care that Anthology Film Archives knows who I am as a poster.

Bought a copy of Whistlejacket, the late period John Hawkes novel inspired by The Draughtsman’s Contract, which will probably not be as good as it sounds because how could it be

It’s cool that ITAOTS is good enough that they let Jeff get away with all the Anne Frank weirdness. If he’d written a third Two Headed Boy he’d have probably been able to commit a murder or two.

I need a 16mm projector specifically so I can find out if the one reel I have from John Boorman’s Hell in the Pacific is the one where Lee Marvin pisses on Toshiro Mifune

In honor of Brian Wilson someone should write a really good song called Steven Page about being arrested for cocaine possession at an airport as a metaphor for the singer’s emotional landscape.

Went to an “Arthur Russell Day” event a friend was playing at. Saw my friend & then immediately left when the next act was noisy performance art where a dude kept hitting a floor tom with ears of corn (I guess cus AR was midwestern & wrote about corn?). Felt like the shitty Graham Lambkin show I saw

I’m reading David Toop’s Haunted Weather and, unsurprisingly, Toop is *so weird* about Japanese art and artists. We need a book that discusses American sound art like this - fuck it, explain how John Cage’s innovations date back to the revolutionary atmosphere of the colonial era, why not?

New blog post. Playful engagement with art as a critical act, explored through music, poetry & film. Stories about reading Tender Buttons, watching James Benning bootlegs, shows I saw last week, galleries I went to today & asking ridiculous Qs w/ possibly boring As.

Went to an art gallery to see some works by Channa Horwitz, but their main room was dedicated to a Carolee Schneemann show. I signed into the gallery’s guest book and the name above mine was Paris Hilton. Choosing to believe it was really her. I hope she’s a Schneeman/Horwitz fan too.

Often torn between thinking "Tortoise are so lucky to have Jeff Parker, a canonical modern jazz guitarist, in their band" & generally preferring the stuff they made before he joined up. Inside me two wolves. Two wolves, a tortoise and a guy named Jeff is a river crossing puzzle…

Reading more Dhalgren. All the sex is so obnoxiously written that I assume Hogg is more offensive from a prose standpoint than a transgression standpoint
