Elon Musk has posted more than 3,000 times on X in the last month — including dozens of unfounded claims about the election — according to a tally by The New York Times. The repercussions of his centrality on the platform while campaigning heavily for Donald Trump could be profound.

Positive news from Botswana. The party that has ruled the Southern African nation for almost six decades has lost election but most importantly, conceded the election peacefully to the opposition. Democracy in action. It’s a shame that the same may not happen in the US..

Hero rats 🐀 help uncover unexploded land mines in Angola 🇦🇴

The civil war left many explosive devices left across the country that still injure and kill civilians today. These Southern giant pouched rats smell them but because of their light weight, there is no risk of setting them off. How cool!

Really enjoying watching Maduro crap his pants and throw his toys out of the plan as Lula, a longtime ally of Chavismo before it became overtly authoritarian, denied Venezuela’s admission to BRICS. Imagine when an alliance including Russia, China and Iran thinks you don’t have enough legitimacy.

Well this I did not expect. LA Times declined to endorse Kamala for an apparently very different reason to Washington Post. #Gaza

Some great words of advice from Prof Tim on how we must not normalise tyranny by obeying in advance. When our modern-day oligarchs like Bezos obey in advance, we have to call it out. We can’t let this be normal.
Here are a few thoughts about the decisions of the owners of the Washington Post and the LA Times to suppress their editorial boards’ decisions to endorse Kamala Harris.

For lunch I had a top quality Guinness and steak burger in An Poitín Still, Carrick-On-Shannon. The others had a beef stew and chicken tenders which were also excellent. 😋 Would highly recommend.

At the very least, if you decide to cancel your WaPo and/or LA Times subscriptions, please I am begging you to transfer that money to other publications that you feel deserve the support. Don’t just remove it completely from all journalism. If we want a free press we have to invest in it.

People are talking about fascism. I've heard from people who are baffled that we haven't been speaking of fascism more and earlier, and from people who want to know what it means – and from people who want me to explain why fascism is bad.
