Eva and I had a wonderful talk about what it takes (or at least what it took me) to get words into the world. My #1 piece of advice: trust your gut. Not easy in a business rife with uncertainty, elements beyond your control, and self-doubt, but 100% vital.

The prolific author behind the pen name Carolyn Keene and dozens of others, Mildred Wirt Benson, wrote in her short 1973 autobiography (The Ghost of Ladora) that "Few of my books ever rated display on librarians' shelves."
