I believe the code states that the washer should be on it's own breaker, and it certainly needs to be a GFCI outlet or breaker.

Since the outlet caught on fire that makes sense, too much current draw allowed before it tripped.

If the circuit was overloaded it should have tripped the breaker. Check to make sure the breaker is functional and appropriately sized for the wiring, match the outlet current rating with wires.

There are relays you could get wired in, but the cost vs a connected appliance would be about equal. It would likely run on a separate platform and not be integrated with Apple smart home.
