Seeing two of your fave singers (one from halfway around the world) just down the road from home is such a privilege, what a great night 💃

(hearing Don't Break Me live, my fave from 2020, may have changed me forever)

🚨🇳🇱 Dutch broadcaster AVROTROS has issued a statement on their #Eurovision 2026 participation.

"Participation by AVROTROS in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 will not be possible as long as Israel is admitted by the EBU."

Just activated like a sleeper agent at hearing someone on the radio try and haphazardly explain that country and why they participate in Eurovision despite not being continentally European...

(also hi! Hope the off season is treating you all well!)

Bye!

Someone is talking about Ulveham on the very grown up and dull radio show I listen to during the week, just when I thought the season was over...

I'm not done with looking at stats but while we've seen that 🇦🇹 didn't get a televote 12pt in the final, it's interesting to note they also didn't in the semi either (highest they got was 10pt from 🇬🇷) - obviously they were in the semi with that country, but even Loreen got some 12s in her SF in 2023

And when does Topo Gigio sing the anthem at the F1, that's what I want to know (come on Monza, you know what to do)

Now to talk as normally as possible on some of the wild facts and stats that came out:

🇪🇪 winning the 'fun/novelty' bracket with relative ease, including a wildly strong showing in the jury, is fascinating - particularly with the jury; while 🇸🇪 got more top points per juror, 🇪🇪 never slid back down

Simply put, if any other country ran such a prolific ad campaign, there would have been a crackdown on how much of a budget can be used on that sort of thing - the minimum next year needs to be a cap, maybe proportional in line with entry costs, and blocks to ads being run on the official channels

Good morning, my thoughts haven't really crystallised and become eloquent just yet - it sucks that we'll have to keep on sitting through "will this be the year they actually get enough televotes" until the inevitable, when the EBU will surely react too little too late and decide there's an issue
May 18, 2025 at 7:33 AM
Anyway my head hurts and I'm just fed up with how one country and its sycophantic supporters can ruin something we all hold dear in a matter of seconds - maybe there'll be some sensible discussion tomorrow on all of this but right now I'm again left with a pit in my stomach
May 17, 2025 at 11:36 PM
We all know the EBU would hate to work out an Israeli ESC, and yet they actively work to facilitate it, not just by their participation, but the now-blanket muting of the crowd, and fake cheering - they will bring this on themselves and likely blame many broadcasters withdrawing if it gets nixed
May 17, 2025 at 11:33 PM
I'm running dry on words that are not just 'what is wrong with you', when in reality we know there have been massive targeted campaigns by that state. There should be no way for any country to pay to advertise their song online as a bare minimum, or this happens every year. #Eurovision
May 17, 2025 at 11:24 PM
And yes, #Eurovision is a singing competition held once a year that should be irrelevant, but my god platforming Israel and actively sanctioning broadcasters who speak up against their inclusion is a very poor look, EBU
May 17, 2025 at 11:19 PM
Going from that shitshow of a televote straight into a news piece on 300+ deaths by that regime since Thursday, those who vote for that country have as much blood on their hands, plain and simple #Eurovision

The EBU surely can’t carry on expecting that the juries will save them from having to even attempt to get a Eurovision going in that country year in year out
May 17, 2025 at 11:08 PM
We can't do this every year - we need broadcasters to speak out or make statements like RTVE did in spite of threats from the EBU, or else we are going to have a year where the juries don't stop their public vote #Eurovision
May 17, 2025 at 11:05 PM
The one year I count along, thank god I have
May 17, 2025 at 10:59 PM
Oh thank the fucking lord, I am sorry Switzerland but Austria have won!! #Eurovision
May 17, 2025 at 10:58 PM
Switzerland have to get 78 or less, or else it's over #Eurovision
May 17, 2025 at 10:57 PM
Oh god no - Austria have to get 100 points from 367 remaining - I don't know #Eurovision
May 17, 2025 at 10:55 PM
Oh no. Sweden has to get a massive televote or Austria has to cling on, or else we are in for a very bad time #Eurovision
May 17, 2025 at 10:52 PM
Why oh why is Tommy Cash scoring jury points, he'll beat Sweden and Finland in the jury at this rate #Eurovision
May 17, 2025 at 10:31 PM
There is a tiny voice in the back of my head saying Sweden are losing their grasp on this #Eurovision
May 17, 2025 at 10:30 PM
Go home jury vote, you're drunk #Eurovision
