Editing 2 different dissertations right now with 2 very different style guides. The move from one project to the other in the middle of the day has me like George Costanza getting ready to order soup.

I started reading a #dissertation for my own research. Not even past the acknowledgements and I have seen 10 typos.

Friendly reminder that I'll proofread your dissertation for an affordable price. Copyediting services (line editing and footnote formatting/correction) also available.

Before anyone gets all weird, all my kids were born early (10 days, 13 days, and then 3 months early) --- but now we begin the EVERYONE'S BIRTHDAY IS IN NOVEMBER month, including Mr. Newton. Chaos. It's chaos month. And I love it.

Treebeard costume FTW.

Doctor: Ok, your chart says you take albuterol?
Me: yes, asthma.
Doctor: good good. And here we have a recent…. Rabies vaccine?!
Me:
Doctor: Bat? You’re giving “would touch a bat” vibes.
Me: precisely.

“Can you summarize that chapter?”

Me: “No, I forgot already, but there’s a missing space after footnote 7 and an inconsistent use of the Oxford comma.”

Was feeling meh today, then one of the wigs arrived for this year's Halloween costume. Energy regained!! (This is not my costume, but I wore it on a video call today anyways)

4 years ago today, I was finishing edits on my #thesis and my #wizard wig arrived.

Rearranging phrases is not avoiding plagiarism.

Signed, an editor with a (probably ADHD) pattern recognition skill.

The 2025 Bookclub list is almost over. 3 books to go!!

Ok I put together the graphic that’s a lot less chaotic than my notes.

Sneak Peak of my little local bookclub list for 2026! My notes are sketchy.
I aim for variety of topics and 200-250ish pages. DEAR PUBLISHERS we need more audiobooks (read by humans)!! I actually took 3 options off 🙁 because our group needs that accessibility option often.

Editing at 8am and the second sentence is an insult to senior scholars. It is too early for this.

Celebrating #bannedbook week by unknowingly adding two of them to the newly installed book box! (And art💜)

I’ve spent the weekend building a little library book box, complete with tiny art museum. I’m selecting the books I’ve read before and will have a little “why I picked this” summary on IG. Very pleased with this venture.

Editing allows me to read manuscripts and think about the weaknesses of its argument (and attempt to have the author address it).

Editing also prohibits me from writing rebuttal articles when they didn't heed my advice. Alas.

I love authors so much but I will only send proofs in PDF form because authors tinker too much.
