My google docs are littered with delightful, random emoji treasures as I use them to copy-paste into fields of other apps that haven't yet enabled emoji shortcuts. Like this one ♥️

Fun fact: your tank of gasoline produces roughly your weight in CO2 when burned.

Willing to bet there's a correlation between larger tanks and driver weight, too.

ex: 13 gallon tank = 220 lbs CO2

Fun fact: fossil fuels are being regenerated at about 30MW on average (over 100M years), so if we used less than that they'd be considered renewable.
We're currently using 14,000 MW but hey, here's hoping.

This is part of a series of posts representing ideas from the book, Ishmael, by Daniel Quinn. I view the ideas explored in Ishmael to be so important to the world that it seems everyone should have a chance to be exposed. I hope this treatment inspires you to read the original.

🫧 We need to propagate positive, realistic, aspirational visions of the future alongside all of the doomsday ones. Without incepting visions of what's possible, we're stuck in navel-gazing doom spirals or grasping for exit strategies into space because that's all we know.

Earth is in trouble at ~400 parts per million of CO2. To the people wanting to terraform Mars - it has ~950,000 parts per million CO2. Fix home first..?

Millennials hate on Boomers for taking all the economic opportunities but at least they were working to create something. Gens Z and Alpha have a case that Millennials are actually more culpable for chasing unrealistic economic carrots while allowing the world to utterly crumble around them.

Been playing with the idea of Dharma vs Purpose. Purpose is generally an individualistic idea of meaning or direction. Dharma is fitting yourself into the order of the universe, closer to duty, and has a much deeper richness. It also evolves over one's life, leaving room for growth through phases.

This AI demo is truly human-seeming and remarkably funny. It feels surprisingly good to speak to it. Definitely crossed to the good side of the uncanny valley for me: www.sesame.com/research/cro...
