i hate cold emails that end: “P.S. If this isn’t relevant to you, just give me a shout and I’ll refrain from further outreach.” I guess “further outreach” is now a threat of sorts! and of course if you reply and ask the sender to stop, they interpret your reply as an act of engagement. lose, lose.

Recommend “character limit: how Elon destroyed twitter”. Specifically pp 86-91. Real life always stranger than fiction. And luck is the intersection of hard work, opportunity and awareness. Not everyone figures it out but @jay.bsky.team did and luck, like hard work, is not an option, it is required.

My insurance “covers” the brand name of a med i take but it won’t cover the generic. “With insurance” a 90 day supply costs $1200+. I get the same 90 day supply of the generic for $120+. The only possible explanation for this 90% discrepancy is misaligned incentives.

just read that yesterday’s tragic event put a spotlight on executive security. This is not an individual issue, it’s a systemic issue. It ought to put a spotlight on an industry where the figurative health of its providers is in direct conflict with the literal health of its customers.

Heard a remarkable and horrific stat during @wired.com big interview yesterday: detrimental health effect of social isolation on seniors is the equivalent of smoking 15 cigarettes a day. Can’t help but think about the mental health effect of 100% remote work on younger generations.
