Cruel, counter-productive, just plain dumb. This would kill our Conservation Corps, a program supported unanimously by a politically diverse Common Council. Congress needs to step up and end DOGE’s assault on this beloved and effective program.

Great talk and tribute to @harveyjkaye.bsky.social! Always appreciate how you take your readers (or listeners) to the root of these big questions when discussing contemporary politics. It’s rare among mainstream commentators and extraordinarily valuable. Thanks for visiting!!
i gave a talk last night and one of the points i made is that in addition to articulating a real defense of the Constitution, the opposition to Trump needs an actual constitutional vision that it can connect to a set of material policies.

What too many people don’t grasp is that there a “fight” spectrum and an ideological spectrum. Many commentators and people in DC assume they pretty much line up exactly. This is not the case at all.
I think some in the Senate have convinced themselves that the backlash to folding will be limited to “the left” and therefore ignorable.

Those people are deeply and profoundly misreading the moment and the stakes.

Virtually every swing district House Dem walked the plank to vote NO for a reason.
