During a walk through Muir Woods, managed to find a peaceful moment with friends in the redwoods.

This shot was taken near Sentinel Dome in August. Hot day had me hiding in the shade.

What appeared to be two distinct trees, on second look, was one with twists of branches both living and dead.

I believe this is a foxtail pine, a high elevation relative of the bristlecone pine. This one was found at 11,000 feet near Sequoia National Park.

Elevation hit me hard on this trip, but I really enjoyed meeting Mount Langley hikers, a park ranger leaving the back country at the end of the season, and helping some PCT hikers escape to Lone Pine.
