May be a tough one to accept, but markets do not necessarily reward the best. They never really have, they don’t now, and they probably won’t in the future: unpolisheddispatch.com/archive/beyo...

Innovation isn’t a flash of genius; it’s what happens when organisations treat learning as their operating system, building feedback, culture, and routines that actually change behaviour, every day.
Learning loops and innovation
Organisational learning is inextricably tied to innovation. This article explores how learning loops (systematic processes of reflecting on actions, capturing insights, and embedding them into behavio...

The choice of how rough or polished a prototype is should be made to maximise learning, because the wrong level at the wrong time slows discovery, hides key insights, and wastes effort.
Prototyping fidelity trade-offs shape learning speed
When quick sketches outperform polished demos, and vice versa.

Instead of trying to perfectly predict the future, robust decision-making is about picking strategies that still work pretty well across lots of different “what ifs”. It’s less “what’s the smartest bet right now?” and more “what keeps us safe, flexible and ready to adapt as things change?”
Robust decision-making favours many futures over one forecast
Why robust strategies aim to perform adequately across a range of plausible futures instead of optimising for a single prediction.

Ultimately, the success of a person, a product, or an organisation boils down to whether other people or customers recommend you or want to work with you. Efforts in ensuring that the value added is above fantastic should trump investments in marketing, advertisement, etc.

“Inspiration is for amateurs. The rest of us just show up and get to work. If you wait around for the clouds to part and a bolt of lightning to strike you in the brain, you are not going to make an awful lot of work." (Chuck Close)

Scale or die.

Small thinking kills businesses. If you’re not growing, you’re fading.

Start before you’re ready.

If you wait until you feel ready, you’ll never start. Momentum beats hesitation.

Launch fast, learn faster.

Perfect is a trap. Get it out there, get feedback, and improve relentlessly.

Ideas are cheap, execution is everything.

Everyone has ideas; only a few turn them into reality. Action separates builders from dreamers.

Build, don’t beg.

No one is handing out success. Stop waiting for permission. Just start building.

Finding the right place to give product feedback can be a needle-in-a-haystack hunt. Users want to share ideas easily.

Why must it be so complicated?

Ever wondered who your ideal user is? Synthetic users simulate their actions. You can test concepts quickly and keep real data safe.

Have you already tried them out?

Will rising mercantilism stifle global innovation and R&D? These innovation mercantilist policies can come in three forms: localisation barriers, indigenous innovation mandates, and classic mercantilist measures.

Synthetic users. Computationally generated representations of real consumer segments or individual users.

Great for concept testing, rapid iteration and scenario modelling.

But are they really?

Will the quest for competitive advantage lead tech companies to create ever more advancements in science? With positive trends in private R&D financing, will Nobel Prizes start to come mostly from private companies?

Innovation culture is a chimera! You can build collaboration spaces, design incentives, and run ideation campaigns, but if your processes prioritise predictable growth and efficiency, you’ll get nowhere.

Stop dawdling. Get serious.

It is the politics, the stepping on someone else’s toes, and the missing alignment on the role of Chief Innovation Officers that are the biggest obstacles to innovation in big corporations.

Corporate venturing isn’t a buzzword. It’s a strategy to stay ahead.

Why think about it? Because disruption won’t wait.

Big companies have resources. Startups have speed. Corporate venturing bridges the gap.

Think about it now. Or watch competitors do it first.
