We have been working on this report since April and it has been eye-opening to understand a little more of the religious and ethnic tapestry of the North-East Inner-City.

Thanks to all the people who shared their stories and to @eoinglackin.bsky.social for the very generous and considered article.
Look to the many faith-based groups to boost integration in inner-city, a new report advises council. Almost 50 faith-based groups play a big role in helping people navigate civic life in the north inner-city, it says – and the council should tap into them, it says.

Could an alternative to methadone give people in recovery more control over their present – and future? Nicknamed “liquid handcuffs”, methadone can require daily doses at a pharmacy or clinic, making education, employment, or even a holiday hard to grasp.

A North Strand bombing memorial should include names of those who died, a councillor says. It’s timely, says Alison Field of Labour, with the 85th anniversary of the devastation approaching, and the world as it is.

Over 70% of people incarcerated in Ireland suffer from substance addiction. I investigated the stark reality of the access to treatment within the system. Please have a read. @dublininquirer.com
More than 900 people are on waitlists for addiction supports in Ireland’s prisons
The longest queue is in Dublin’s Mountjoy, where more than 240 people languish on the waitlist for counselling for substance addiction.

Piece for @dublininquirer.com , speaking to three men who don't want to leave their homes in St Anne's Court Senior Citizens Complex, ahead of a planned demolition and redevelopment.
A senior citizens complex in Raheny is due to be knocked and rebuilt – but some tenants are hanging on

New piece for @dublininquirer.com about Dublin City Council's well-regarded Neighbour Transport Scheme, that quietly went away.
Councillors wonder what’s become of those transport schemes to make neighbourhoods safer
They recite schemes that were promised, or piloted, but seem to have gone nowhere. A council spokesperson said similar initiatives still exist.
