I 100% agree with @brianbeutler.bsky.social. Beutler's point on Dem messaging: placid, conceptual, cliche-ridden blah blah language, which sounds like the parents in Peanuts, isn't going to inspire action. Period.
Who Do You Think You're Talking To?

The science and health implications of these cuts are critical, of course. But I think the economic impacts are where the pushback can be most effective. #science #NIH #health

3/We can share with media, policymakers, community orgs in those states and nationally. And we can update these snapshots as things change.

2/Explanations cannot be full of jargon and conceptualizations, but must clearly focus on what people will lose, at granular level, with data to back it up. Snapshots should also include questions that people can ask their R Senators about why they supported these ignorant administration decisions.

1/Sharing an idea: We need to develop snapshots, combining text and graphics, that concisely and compellingly explain the effect of Trump/Musk Executive orders, freezes, and cuts on lives of everyone in states where Senate Republicans are up for re-election in 2026.

What he doesn't realize is that this decision will also tick off the pharmaceutical and biotech companies that donated to his campaign, not to mention the red state governors who benefit from this research. #NIH #science #health #medicine

Great to see this shift! From the NCFP five-year benchmark survey: "More donors are employing what we are calling “principle-based” practices, meaning foundations are weaving accountability, equity,
reflection and learning, and relationships into their governance, grantmaking, and operations."

Some thoughts from @gristnews.bsky.social and @fastcompany.com on framing climate change in a way that can resonate across party and ideological lines. One approach: "listening to people’s worries without judgment and helping them work through their conflicted feelings."
