In the developing world: six billion people lack access to safe, affordable surgical care, with the most severe deficiencies in Low and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs). 160 million additional surgical procedures are needed annually. While over 400 million procedures occur , 6% take place in LMICs.

Imagine needing an operation and the surgery will use unsterile instruments! Or you are told that you must go to a distant hospital because surgery cannot be performed safely. This situation repeats globally.
