#FOFriday : i finished the knitting a while ago but dragged my feet on weaving in ends, washing, and blocking. I didn’t feel like doing a photoshoot, being firmly in goblin mode on Boxing Day. Yarn and pattern details in the alt text. #Knitting #Knitsky 🧶
A flat lay of an asymmetric shawl. It’s knit in two different yarns (a smooth sock yarn and a fuzzy suri silk) dyed in the same soft green colorway with speckles of darker green. It has stripes of garter stitch and a simple la e pattern. Pattern: Birds of a Feather by Andrea Mowry Yarn: both dyed by Clockwork Fiber Co (back when they had the former Beachy Breeze Fibers branding) in the same colorway, “April Showers.” One skein of BoardwalkSock and one skein of Suri Silk lace. Modifications: I had less yarn than specified by the pattern, so I followed some other modifications from project notes on Ravelry for a smaller size.

I took the photo yesterday, but didn’t get around to posting it g for #WIPWednesday . The dark brown slipover was drying after being washed, so I brought the other projects to it. The stocking was finished in time to be used last night (though I intend to add a lining). #Knitting #Knitsky 🧶
Three hand knitting projects in progress, but the lighting is bad and the brown background isn’t really identifiable as a slipover drying after blocking (and before sewing the side seams). There’s also a dark red child sweater with a white colorwork yoke (Compass by TinCan Knits) and a huge colorwork stocking. It is knit in two shade of blue and a light grey heather. It features some geometric motifs, a giant snowflake, some pine trees, and some snowflakes with diamonds.

Two 3D printed spinning wheel bobbins with 2-ply yarn. On the left is a caramel colored yarn. One ply is from 100% merino, and the other ply is the same merino blended with 20% muga silk. On the right is a pale grey yarn. One ply is 100% Jacob, and the other ply is the same Jacob blended with 20% shed fox fur. The Fossil Fibers October 2025 fibers blending club. The inspiration picture was vintage painted teacups. At the top are locks of undyed Texel wool and a bit of silky looking white rose fiber. On the bottom are dyed locks of Shetland wool in pale blue, pink, and green. There’s also a bit of orangey gold eri silk. The same fiber after combing and being lashed onto a hackle. The white Texel provides fluffiness, and the silk fiber and eri silk have just been layered on top. Three nests of hand-combed fiber. The rose fiber and eri silk stand out the most against the background of the white Texel, but bits of the dyed Shetland are noticeable, too.

Today’s advents. I think the yarn is continuing to love into green, while the fiber is an 80/20 blend of merino and muga silk.
Day 15 of the Artemis Yarns Nereids Advent with a pale mini skein with green speckles and yellow streaks. Day 8 of the Melly Knits Delightful Advent. It’s the same merino from day 7 blended with 20% muga silk.

Getting caught up on posting my Advent calendars. Days 12-14 from Artemis yarns, days 6 and 7 from Haunui Wools, and day 7 of the Melly Knits Delightful advent.
Day 12 of the Artemis Yarns Nereids Advent (a yellowish orange mini skein of yarn) and day 6 of the Haunui Wools 100% wool advent. There are bits of green, orange, pink, and purple dyed on the oatmeal base. Day 13 of the Artemis Yarns Nereids Advent. This is a yellowish orange mini mini skein of yarn. Also the fiber for day 7 of the Melly Knits Delightful Advent. It is a light caramel color and is pictured next to a washed lock and the day’s treasure (a piece of dark chocolate from Truffle Pig). Day 14 of the Artemis Yarns Nereids Advent. It looks like the yellow is starting to transition to a pale green in this mini skein. Also pictured is some combed top from Day 7 of the Haunui Wools 100% wool advent. This is the Pewter base, which perfect rly describes the color.

#SundaysAreForSpinning : I have the first 6 days of the Melly Knits Delightful Advent spun and plied (each skein is 2 days). I spun day 7, which may be my favorite so far (a merino from Apple Creek Merinos).
3 skeins of 2 ply yarn, and from the Melly Knits Delightful Advent. From left to right: 1: a chocolate brown yarn. One ply is 100% Cormo, and the other is the same Cormo blended with 20% bison down. 2: a beige yarn. One ply is 100% Corriedale, and the other is the same wool blended with 20% angora. 3: a near-black yarn. One ply is 100% Haunui, and the other is the same wool blended with 20% nubora kid goat. Nubora is a cross between a Nubian sheep (a milk breed) and an angora goat (where mohair comes from). An antique spinning wheel with spun singles. The fiber is a tan (light caramel) merino.

I haven’t had an #FOFriday post in a while. A hat for my son, using leftover @blueskyfibers.bsky.social Woolstok Worsted along with some minis from a Woolstok Worsted bundle. Base stitch counts and crown shaping from those in the DK version of the Barley Hat by Tin Can Knits. #KnitSky #Knitting 🧶
A handknit stocking cap knit out of Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok Worsted. There’s a broad brim in 2x2 ribbing (so it can fold up as a second layer over the ears) knit mostly in a pale blue (colorway Thermal Spring). Still in the ribbing is a stripe in a slightly darker blue (colorway Spring Ice), about 7 rounds wide. Then the hat transitions to stockinette, with stripes about 6 rounds wide. The following colorways are used: Grey Harbor (light grey), Highland Fleece (off-white), October Sky (navy blue), Thermal Spring, Cast Iron (charcoal grey), and Drift Wood (taupe). The stripe sequence completes one time and finishes Highland Fleece before starting the crown decreases. The hat ends with Cast Iron.

The Artemis Yarns advent calendar is still in the Orange family. Delightful day 6 from Melly Knits was the same dark Haunui from day 5 blended with 20% kid nubora, which I’m guessing is a cross between Nubian goats (a milk breed) with angora (the source of mohair) I haven’t watched today’s Lore yet.
Day 11 of the Artemis Yarns Nereids advent, which is an orange mini skein of yarn Day 6 of the Melly Knits Delightful, which is 80% Haunui wool and 20% kid nubora goat An antique spinning wheel with spun singles. With the kid nubora blended in, the fiber is more grey and has a hairier appearance than the Haunui alone

Three knitting projects in progress. On the top left is child sweater (Compass by Tin Can Knits) with a colorwork yoke being knit with a dark red (super old Louet Gems Sportweight) and white (undyed KnitPicks High Desert Sport). To the right is the start of a Christmas stocking knit in two shade of blue and light grey. I’m winging the pattern as I go, using colorwork patterns from other patterns and stitch dictionaries. Yarn is Plymouth Yarns Encore. On the lower left is a hat in stripes of Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok Worsted. Another pattern I am winging a bit. It has a wide 2x2 ribbing brim and the rest is stockinette.

Getting caught up on my advent calendars, and I spun the fiber I opened today (day 5 of the Melly Knits Delightful advent).
Yesterday’s (December 8) advent items. A light pink mini skein of yarn from Artemis Yarns, and naturally pale grey (the color is called “Fog) Haunui rip dyed in shades of orange, pink, and purple. It’s another colorway reminiscent of a sunset. December 9 advent items. The mini skein from Artemis Yarns is mostly a light pink shot through with some orange. The fiber is dark dark Haunui. About as black as you can get in naturally colored wool. There’s also a small dark ceramic slug. An antique spinning wheel partially filled with spun singles. The fiber was a dark (about as black as you can get with wool) Haunui.

I’ve been using “Regards” on all work emails for nearly 20 years, since somebody chastised me for not using salutations (I now default to “Hi” or “Hello if I need to be more formal) or sign offs on emails. Have people been thinking I’ve been pissed off this whole time? Best seems too casual to me.

#SundaysAreForSpinnung overlaps with another day of Advent Calendars. Day 4 of the Melly Knits Delughtdul was 80% Corriedale/20% angora. I spun it up and transferred days 3 and 4 to storage bobbins for plying. I also skeined up the yarn from plying Days 1 and 2. #Handspinning
Day 7 of the Artemis Nereids advent, which is a mini skein of yarn that’s a mixture of light purple and pink. Day 4 of the Melly Knits Delightful advent was Corriedale blended with 20% angora. The fiber is the same champagne color as the pure Corriedale from day 3z An antique spinning wheel with a spin single of 80% Corriedale/20% angora. The yarn is a champagne color with a noticeable halo from the angora. From right to left: A plastic storage bobbin with the remnants of the Melly Knits Delightful advent day 2 (8% Cormo/20% bison down), the skeined yarn from plying days 1 and 2 together (a greyish brown yarn), a plastic storage bobbin with Day 3 singles (a champagne Corriedale), and a mastic storage bobbin with the Day 4 singles (the same Corriedale from Day 3 blended with 20% angora).

Today I opened day 4 of the Artemis Yarns Nereids advent calendar and day 2 of the Haunui 100% wool advent calendar. I also plied days 1 and 2 of the Melly Knits Delightful together. #Handspinning 🧶
Day 4 of the Artemis Yarns Nereids Advent—it is a light purple mini skein of yarn. Day 2 of the Haunui wool fiber advent. The braid is the same Pearl Haunui as day 1 dyed in tones of pink, purple, and orange. There’s an overall orangey tint to the photo because I had turned in the indoor lights—it was an overcast day and I took this photo around sunset. A 3D printed pink spinning wheel bobbin with a brownish grey 2-ply yarn. This is day 1 (Cormo) and day 2 (Cormo + 20% bison) of the Melly Knits Delightful Advent plied together.

Days 2 and 3 of my Advent Calendars. The fiber advents are 12 days each, so I’m alternating. I opened the first one from Hauni yesterday (I chose 100% wool). I opened day 2 from Melly Knits today and spun it up (Cormo + 20% bison down). #Handspinning
A mini skein of purple yarn (Day 2 of the Artemis Yarns Nereids Advent) and Day 1 of the Haunui wool advent. It is a braid of undyed white top, aptly called their “Pearl” color. A mini skein of purple yarn—a lighter purple than yesterday. This is the Day 3 yarn from the Artemis Yarns Nereids Advent. A mini batt of carded greyish brown fiber. This is the same Cormo from day 1, blended with 20% bison down. An antique spinning wheel bobbin with spun greyish brown singles. This is Cormo + 30% bison down, which is definitely adding a bit of a halo to the yarn.
