What appears here to be flexible stalks are actually the branches of a walnut tree, made to move through Intentional Camera Movement (ICM).

A raven had landed on the awning of a café, from where it observed the hustle and bustle of people with a disapproving gaze. The raven is depicted in profile, though it is not looking forward, as its head is turned backwards, causing its beak to point behind it. It sits on the outer edge of an awning in the middle of the Dutch city of Deventer. On this summer's day, there was much to observe beneath the awning: people had settled down for coffee and cake, while waitstaff moved busily between the tables. Perhaps it was hoping to snatch a piece of cake for itself somewhere.

The photograph depicts the building of a former textile company. The elongated structure is captured in its entirety. A small turret in the centre visually divides the building into two halves. In reality, the turret is merely an architectural hint on the façade, a playful use of form. The photograph shows the state of the building long after the company ceased operations. The site has been cleared, and the actual production halls had already been demolished at the time the picture was taken. By January 2012, when the photo was taken, it was already decided that this building would also be demolished. It stands as a ruin: some window panes have been broken, and the roof shows signs of damage.
