We went to an art gallery today - QAGOMA (Qld art gallery and gallery of modern art). It was such a hot day I think what appealed to me most was less the framed art and sculptures and more the fountain

#Apple seems to be forcing users to adopt iOS 26 - their liquid glass even when adjusted to not be so challenging to see is still unpleasant to view. There are other issues with it too.

We saw ‘Mercy’ - it was a cool action thriller about AI and humans making errors mixed with a police procedural with double twists at the end. Enjoyed it

Gouache is a good medium to use for quick sketches as it dries very fast, is opaque but can be watered down for translucence, here is a quick sketch I did of Cormorant Bay in Qld using the medium.

A quick gouache painting of gazania flowers. This cold press paper is in my Filofax Norfolk. It is a good binder for small pieces of art paper as the rings are larger than usual for a Filofax and can hold more paper and handle thick paper like this.

Had a pleasant start to weekend working on illustrations for collage sheets (started a Kofi shop to sell printables at $1 ea) weeded the garden, and tidied my study (which is a tiny room that is my study, home library, art and craft room, and one of the preferred places of the cats to recline. )

While at the river this morning on a weekend outing in very hot weather - I did a quick mixed media sketch under ten minutes to capture the fishing activities (almost a croquis drawing in its speed and gesture capturing if we want to be posh) #creativity

I am sick with another respiratory thing and feel mopey. Decided to paint to distract myself. Our small half barrel 'pond' has water lilies. After rain the water is murky, leaves are submerged, silty. The flowers rise up despite this. My #painting is inspired by that resilience #workinprogress
