My biggest takeaway is that communication is so much more than we think of at face value. We are communicating through every action we make or in some cases don't make and the more we are able to understand that the more meaningful relationships we can have. #UTcommtheory

The most memorable theory for me was social penetration theory. I feel like I was able to apply this very closely to my life and it is a theory that just made sense to me. I found it really interesting to look at how we develop connections and choose what we share, or dont with others. #UTcommtheory

I do believe that the agenda setting theory is still relevant. We are definitely made to feel like we have a different kind of control over what we see now and, to an extent I think that is true but we also are given what we find interesting and what will grab our attention. #UTcommtheory

This article on a statement from the VP of Campbells The media is wanting us to be concerned about this issue and uses the crazy alleged quote to grab our attention. #UTcommtheory

Someone I have a parasocial relationship with is Lauryn Pinkston. She is one of my favorite social media creators, she posts authentic and relatable content. I find that if its not something actively in my life it is what I want for the future which makes her fun to watch! #UTcommtheory

I also chose Disney as an example of this! One example of Disney influence is the princes franchise as a whole. These films influence how young girls see beauty, happiness and even romance. Newer movies however have started to highlight independence and take a shift in their message. #UTcommtheory

AI has negatively impacted education simply by reducing how much people are learning. AI has become such a backbone for a lot of people that it is their first step to go to AI before they even try to do the work for themselves or attempt to understand the content. #UTcommtheory

I can relate to #2 assertive assimilation, especially in a school or work setting. It is super common to hear others complain about people not doing their part rather its in closing at work or in a group project so I find my self over compensating so i am not the "bad" teammate. #UTcommtheory

I respond best to participation. I think we all have an appreciation for feeling heard, especially on topic that affect us or we are knowledgeable about. Sharing input and opinions and feeling valued I feel makes you have more work ethic and more drive to keep going. #UTcommtheory

I think an organization like meta (facebook) could benefit from a culture shift. It has been said that a lot of media groups, like facebook, have created a quick and move on environment but if shifted to be more transparent and/or accountable environment employees could benefit from it #UTcommtheory

A common enthymeme I hear is "well they got an A, so this must be really easy for them." I think we all have heard this but also know that a lot of people study very hard to get the grades they do and the information doesn't just come naturally to everyone. #UTcommtheory

My cognitive dissonance is that I am easily persuaded to go do other activities, like getting dinner with my roomates, event though I know I should be doing homework before the last minute. #UTcommtheory

I do believe the claim of Multiplexity Theory in that my best friend and I see each other often but also communicate through multiple media platforms.Friends that I am maybe not as close with I dont find myself communicating with them as much through media more so just when I see them. #UTcommtheory

I feel like facebook is a big one where you see people often sharing a lot of personal information. I have also seen this on Tik Tok where people are posting videos about their personal lives making us the watchers reluctant confidants. #UTcommtheory

An example of autonomy-connection dialectic is Ross and Rachel from Friends. They both want to be together and start a relationship together but they also both find their independence important. Their back and forth during the show caused conflict and insecurities finding the balance #UTcommtheory

I think Axiom 6 is one that I relate to the most. I find it so much easier to hold conversations, especially when you are just getting to know someone, when you have similarities to talk about. The more similarity there is, the more comfortable you are able to be! #UTcommtheory

I was at work (serving at a restaurant) and a customer at my table started just telling me her whole life story. I was caught off guard but it is also oddly common in this position for people to overshare with their stranger server #UTcommtheory

I grew up in a consensual family type. My parents definitely held the authority but things were always explained and there were options given in most situations to keep my opinion in mind as well. My parents would give me their thoughts on situations but ultimately let me handle it. #UTcommtheory

I am normally a pretty fast responder so when I didn't text my best friend (Option 1) back all day she texted me a few times and called and was worried something was wrong. Her response showed me she cared but also how common it has become for me to answer right away. #UTcommtheory

A time my "I" and "me" were at odds was this week with my homework. My "I" was that I wanted to lay around and watch my current TV show but my "me" knew I had a busy weekend and had to get homework done so I don't fall behind in my classes #UTcommtheory

I find the Semiotic Tradition to be the most interesting. I am very intrigued by the idea that people do create meaning, not actual words, and the thoughts and assumptions that come with that. It's kind of a confusing idea, but also very interesting. #UTcommtheory

I think the most important criteria is the qualitative and quantitive aspects. Rather than if it is words or numbers these provide concise information and data to go off of and help to allow you to see the full idea behind the theory. #UTcommtheory

I am definitely more drawn to the interpretive approach because I think in a lot of scenarios there is more than one reason for something happening or more than one explanation for an event. I do however like the idea of an objective approach where things are very cut and dry. #UTcommtheory
