Guide to the classics: Aristotle’s Poetics is a bible for screenwriters – but it’s often misread
No other classic text has left such a mark on how we tell stories, create theatre, and structure film. But what does it actually say?

12 years ago in Eleusis. Can't quite believe it has been that long since I've been back to Greece.

Thrilled to have won the 2024 Rob Jordan prize for best book in drama, theatre, dance or performance studies for Punchdrunk on the Classics. You can read the judge's citation here www.adsa.edu.au/dbpage.php?p... (& can ask your library to buy a copy of my book here link.springer.com/book/10.1007...)
Punchdrunk on the Classics
This book draws attention to Punchdrunk’s use of ancient Greek literature in their creation of immersive theatre, and highlights the overlooked significance of antiquity in their practice.

It’s a dark day for research in Aotearoa New Zealand and the ramifications for the country are huge. Minister Judith Collins has just announced our blue-skies funder will no longer fund humanities & social science research and that 50% of what is funded must have economic benefit.

Any thoughts on this #theatresky?
Friends, I have a colleague trying to access a recording of Headlong's 1984. Has anyone come across one before? TIA!

Friends, can you think of an edited collection with an effective, snappy epilogue/afterword written by the editor (as opposed to written by an extra contributor)? I'm after some stellar examples, ideally #theatresky or #classicssky. Ta!

One final Brisbane/QLD question from this newbie - when does swooping season end?! There are miners enacting a reign of terror on the corner of my street and I start each day terrified of the cycle into work (often with my kids on the back of the bike too!) 😳😱

Another QLD question for you all - do I need to go to a specialist skin cancer clinic for an annual skin check or do GPs do this? Figure I need to get on top of these now I live in Brisbane 😬
