All opinions here are probably nicked from someone smarter.

Well that's a rather lovely blast from the past, one of my tutors from back in the day at @royalholloway.bsky.social has been longlisted for the Booker. Congratulations to Ben Markovits! We were tasked to write a writing manifesto as a class once (by a different tutor), we named it Markovism

Spent a lot of time digging through the data on this, interesting food for thought. Some words from me included here, and some better ones from @lornelvin.bsky.social about the industry diversifying to reach audiences
The results are now out for our third annual survey to understand how arts PRs view our work and industry. Head to our blog for the full results. bit.ly/4hzrNCH

Today is both 'National Bubble Bath Day' and 'Show and Tell at Work Day'. These are SEPARATE things, do not, I repeat, do NOT attempt to combine the two

Belated post about my NYD tradition of reading a whole book, this year I'd saved the 6th Jackson Brodie book from Kate Atkinson, as moorish as expected, she has such a strange way of writing nothing happening but then all the things that havent happened needing to have happened for the end happening

Trump winning Time magazine Person of the Year is vom inducing, but I enjoyed Metro's reporting on it metro.co.uk/2024/12/12/d...
Donald Trump joins exclusive club enjoyed by Hitler, Stalin and Khrushchev

If you're fresh out of present ideas, Theatre Tokens are a nice thing, the lack of expiration date is excellent. Forgot I'd been given some til one miserable date when plans had been cancelled and needed a cheer up

Ok, no one asked but here's my take on Wicked: whilst it's really good, somehow being on screen rather than stage makes the flimsiness of the relationships more pronounced. Everyone seems to fall head over heels in love with each other based on... not very much. Not the point, I know, but did bug me

So after taking 3 months to fix the TFL website, you're now able to get refunds again with TFL advising "log on to [your] account and correct incomplete journeys and request refunds online." Except you can't, can you, it won't let you go back further than a month 😡 www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
TfL cycber attack: Contactless passengers able to apply for refunds
TfL says all online fares services have been reinstated, following a security incident in September.

This is a really interesting piece, always thought that interpreters off all sorts are pretty impressive for overcoming all the different grammar rules and colloquialisms and language weirdery👇
I loved investigating the challenges of BSL interpreting for live comedy, theatre and music for Time Out. From tricky and frozen language (imagine signing Shakespeare) and timing punchlines to post-MeToo agency, it’s a fascinating area.
