Ill be giving a minicourse for the next three weeks at the Topology, Geometry and Physics seminar tomorrow at 9am EST on my notes “Coverages and Grothendieck Toposes” (arxiv.org/abs/2503.20664), see www.zeinalian.com/workshop for more info!
Coverages and Grothendieck Toposes
These notes detail the basics of the theory of Grothendieck toposes from the viewpoint of coverages. Typically one defines a site as a (small) category equipped with a Grothendieck topology. However, ...

There are way too many categories of graphs, this is ridiculous. Most of them aren’t even toposes 😒

Is $\mathrm{Graph}$ cartesian-closed?
Let $\mathrm{Graph}$ be the category of simple, undirected graphs with graph homomorphisms. For any graphs $G, H$ we denote by $\text{Hom}(G, H)$ the set of graph homomorphisms $f:G\to H$. (Note th...

When somebody is like pushouts don’t exist in this category, and I’m like, none of them? That’s concerning.

Science has gone too far, we never should have invented topology.

Goodreads is owned by Jeff Bezos. A better alternative is StoryGraph, a Black woman-owned platform. And before y’all start, you can transfer all your Goodreads data to Storygraph so you literally have no excuse.

Also, I've been building a category theorist starter pack on BlueSky: go.bsky.app/Qe38ctW

I added you to it to hopefully help build out the CT network here. Let me know if I am missing anyone!

Its been a while since I tried social-mediaing but this place seems interesting, so lets give it a try. I’m Emilio, I am an Assistant Professor of Math at CUNY CityTech and I study category theory. Lately I’ve been learning about algorithms and thinking a lot about sheaves.
