Argh! *shakes fist at hypothetical commentary* "Imagine if they didn't have those three turnovers..." We brought you in to report what happens. Not suggest some counterfactual alternatives.

Sometimes, when you get acronyms with multiple possible meanings, the options are related to each other and have a high degree of overlap, so you have to pay careful attention to the context to decide which is meant.
"Tackles for loss" and "thermo-fused laminate" are not like that.

Whatever your opinion about the watering-down of the word "literally," I think we can all agree that, when used as an intensifier, it should be paired with something a little hyperbolic. Tony Romo just said of a call, "This is going to be literally really close."

Ah, college football season. When it's suddenly acceptable for an announcer in his sixties to get up on TV and describe a nineteen-year-old as "a really good-looking tight end."
I'm surprised shipping isn't a thing in sports yet (as far as I know.)

Just found out that Ariadne Oliver, Agatha Christie's mystery novelist character, has a book called "The Affair of the Second Goldfish." German must have a word for when you want to read a book, but its existence is purely fictional.
Unerreichbarwegenfictivsehnsuchtkeit? Probably not. ☹️

Is this weird? I just started a nonfiction popular history audiobook. When quoting people like Herodotus and Ovid, the narrator used the same (British) accent as for the rest of the text. But when quoting Ibrahim ibn Yaqub, suddenly he started putting on a foreign accent.
