Fresh-cut Christmas trees can carry more than holiday cheer!

#InvasiveSpecies like spongy moth and balsam woolly adelgid can hide in trees and threaten forests. Inspect trees before bringing them indoors and report anything suspicious.

Elongated hemlock scale and Cryptomeria scale have been detected on fir Christmas trees in Michigan. Already major invasive pests in other states, they are likely to become an increasingly important concern for growers.
