Having fun drawing out at my residency where I’m also getting a lot of writing done. When I don’t have my digital tools I’m more prone to experimenting and finishing work. I miss the feeling!

I wrote a full 13 page short story in one sitting. I haven’t done that… ever? Maybe a six page short story in a day or a twenty page short story in a week for school… but this??? I must have been possessed or something. It’s a first draft but I’m going to let it sit before I clean it up.

I’m halfway through a collection of Harlan Ellison stories while I’m out at my artist residency. I might be reaching, but I never thought to consider why Christoph’s name is Harlander until I saw @realgdt.bsky.social’s name praising Harlan’s work. There may be no connection, but it’s a fun thought.

My take on Frankenstein's Creature as he's described in the novel. Beautiful, but definitely not supposed to be alive and hulking around, begging humanity for a scrap of mercy. (It is so funny to me that Victor gave him long, lustrous black hair. Down bad for Peter Steele, I suppose.) #Frankenstein

Finally finished my Elizabeth piece to celebrate @realgdt.bsky.social’s Frankenstein film! Elizabeth quickly became an inspiration with her carrying so many roles and motifs in the narrative. I wanted the wood grain and the bars in the image for texture and to match her story.

Reorganized some more (most of this book has been sorting it out) and wrote a whole 8 pages in an hour. That doesn’t happen.
Ready to pick my manuscript up again after a few days. It’s been a painful separation because I got stuck before I really got stuck but I have to work through it to get it done.

First ever call back in my life? It doesn’t mean I get the role I want or even if I get in. But after 10 years of doing theater on and off and being inspired by my local community of amazing actors and show-runners, I feel like I’ve leveled up. Impostor syndrome is hitting an all time high.

I want to watch the Charles Dance version of the Phantom of the Opera again. It’s my favorite because we don’t see what Charlie looks like but everyone has a much more severe reaction to his face than any version where we see him. The mystery is divine. He’s so wonderfully sweet and sassy I miss it.

Audition went well! Doubt I’m getting the part knowing how this awesome woman chooses her cast mates, but we’ll see. I audition for her because she puts community in community theater, and brings joy to every production. Whatever happens I trust the judgement of her and the crew.

Fell into a lull creativity wise. Auditions for my local show are tomorrow so I’m in what I call “Hunker Down Mode” where my brain kind of goes numb and I get a little more anxious but I’m mostly calm while I wait for the thing I’m anticipating to happen.

Working on the twin piece for the other piece I finished celebrating @realgdt.bsky.social’s #frankenstein. Representing Act 2 which encompasses the beginning and end of the film. It’s the full circle: timeless, resonating, and whole.

Wrote about 16 pages tonight on my manuscript. My chapters are getting longer and longer. But I know that when I read it later I will cut out so much garbage like I did with the first half of the damn thing. The joy of writing.

I still really love this Darkman piece I did last year or year before. It was my first real attempt at making a fully rendered piece with my sketching style. My digital work is very stiff and sterile, so this was my first time trying to marry digital with my comfort zone in traditional sketches.

Got two chapters done on one of my manuscripts, spent time adding to the Frankenstein WIPs, and finished memorizing my monologue for an upcoming community theater audition. Feeling really good!

Still working on the twin piece for Frankenstein and another one dedicated to Elizabeth. Knowing how my brain is prone to fixation, when I’m done I’ll probably try and escape the internet for a while. Frankenstein—my heart—is wonderful, but as a creator I need some brain space for my own creatures.

The parasites told me to buy every Save the Cat! Book in the series, and now the parasites are telling me to utilize the other ones alongside the first book which is almost ten years old and begging for mercy.
