Great fun being back at #midwestgridfest today with @midwestcrossword.bsky.social. I did just as poorly as last year, so I’m consistent.

Excited to start listening to the audiobook of The Shattering Peace by @scalzi.com. Has been awhile but I loved all of the OMW series.

Saw Bad Shabbos today. Dark and hilarious. Old ladies behind us seemed totally horrified by the story, which only made it funnier.
"Bad Shabbos" is playing here this weekend and I think I need to go see it even though Kyra Sedgwick, Milana Vayntrub, Method Man and David Paymer sounds like casting Mad Libs

@herbalpertofficial.bsky.social and the gang put on a fun show in Chicago tonight. Lani Hall did a great tribute to Sergio Mendes too. Amazing.

Why would anyone want to be in Chicago in August? Because the sunset views east and west are spectacular, showing off some of Chicago's oldest and newest architecture. Dearborn bridge looking west and from 330 N. Wabash, looking east (IBM Building now the AMA Plaza or the Langham Hotel).

Finished @danielsilvabooks.bsky.social An Inside Job. Great as always, esp. the detailed author’s notes at the end. Next up is @nnedi.bsky.social She Who Knows.

Going to miss Chuck Mangione, one of my high school days’ idols. The Live at the Hollywood Bowl album is still one of my all time faves. Quartet and 70 piece orchestra on a double record set with a concert book in the middle. I got to be him for about 10 minutes once. I’m 16 or 17 in that pic. 1981?

Traffic and weather be damned, our granddaughter’s first concert ended Sunday with thousands of rain soaked nerds singing The Saga Begins with their old pal. Bigger. Weirder. @alyankovic.bsky.social
