The last peony for the year. This one has been passed along through my husband's family, and I hope we'll eventually be able to divide and share it, too.

I'd never seen a waxwing in our garden before, but they've been back and forth all day today. This is the first year that the sour cherry tree has produced more than a handful of fruit. 🍒

The next peonies to open. My husband bought these ones at a farmers' market when we were first starting the garden, and they took a long time to get established. I'm so pleased to finally see a lot of buds on them this year.

The first peony bloom of the year (and the very first for this plant) and it is extremely pink! It was supposed to be a pale white & pink variety, so this was a surprise. But it looks very nice where it is... probably better than my original plan for that spot in the garden. 🌸

The scrungly little robins that hatched on our porch have all fledged. I hope they do well. 🥺

A few of the new tulips added to the garden for this year. I chose the parrot tulips in memory of a friend who was fond of that type in particular and always had plenty of good gardening ideas and advice. 🌷💗

One more snowdrop post before they've finished flowering for the year. These doubles (Hippolyta) are the nearest I could get to having niphredil in the garden. But I wonder which other snowdrop cultivars would be an even closer match to Tolkien's drawing?
