It's hard to overstate how uniquely aggressive, unprofessional, insular, and ideological Border Patrol is compared to all other federal law enforcement agencies. Among other things, USBP is distinct for being the only federal LEA to employ an active serial killer.

One of the reasons it's impossible to disrupt Mexican cartels with military force is because there are state and municipal police that work for them in every state. Good luck trying to root out police corruption with drone strikes or counterterrorism-style SOF raids.

It should never have been this easy to turn an entire executive cabinet into a totally lawless paramilitarized occupation force
Over the last five years, police chiefs have worked to persuade a skeptical public that officers would curb their use of violence. Now, police officials are complaining about ICE, saying they are endangering residents and setting back efforts to improve public trust.

Ted Cruz lacks anything resembling a moral center so I assume he's responding to troubling sentiment analytics data trends and stochastic prediction models of voter turnout rather than taking a principled stand over how to better handle future executions on video
Ted Cruz: "If you're being told, this is a mom of three -- and she's not waving an ISIS flag or doesn't have a suicide vest -- escalating the rhetoric doesn't help, and it actually loses credibility. So I would encourage the administration to be more measured and recognize the tragedy."
