I loathe the character limit. Thank goodness for this ALT text, in addition to helping describe images for folks. I hope I can effectively do my part! The sing-song pattern of the women talking reminds me of how my AuDHD mind perceives small talk. In this context, their small talk rather is perhaps used to disguise their hypervigilance and awareness that Arthur is lurking just ever too close for comfort. The complexities of being a woman in a patriarchal paradigm. All three are in a mall/department store, shopping for cosmetics during the first scene. The small talk progresses into gossip and disclosure as modern day feminism owns this form of discourse of “gossip” as community building and keeping each other safe while only the patriarchy accuses anything of the sort as a negative trait to dismiss, and discourage such power accumulation from the objects they assume to control and own. Next, the women drive home and part ways as one drops the other off before heading to her own residence. Arthur is seen in the street walking up to her house as her friend drives away. He is looking in her window, with images cutting in and out of Sharon laying/resting and dissolving into a corps (potentially Arthur’s imagination of what is about to occur by his own doing). Sharon takes note that Arthur is demanding entry and is seen on a rotary phone pleading for her friend Janice to come back to help her. Arthur gains access to the inside of Sharon’s home and starts to batter her, knocking her down as she asks “why?”multiple times. Images cut to Sharron eating a steak with steak sauce on her chin/cheek. Janice and Sharon overtake Arthur and then carry his body to another room off camera, making/eating soup, drinking a red substance in a jacuzzi then collecting the rest of his remains in two garbage bags that are placed out at the curb where a garbage man throws the bags in the truck as the truck’s compactor pushes the contents out of sight from the viewer. Ending credits commence.
