Exciting! Terrifying? Lots of things. Trying to work up the courage to listen to myself. But you should listen in the meantime.
"I kind of looked at the theatre scene and was like, 'What isn't here? What can I add to it that's missing?' I think creating parts for women and creating parts for young performers that are exciting is how I can contribute to a scene that is very full."
The Subtext: Rachel Bublitz Is Writing for Her Younger Self
The writer of 'Funny, Like an Abortion' and 'The Night Witches' talks about long commutes, writing science plays, and the parts she wishes she'd been able to play in school.

Just some absolutely wonderful stuff in these.
Today we're proud (if heartbroken) to share 2 memorial tributes to the late, great William Finn. The first, by his Tony-winning collaborator Rachel Sheinkin, looks at Finn's unique process, craft, and personality. www.americantheatre.org/2025/04/16/w...
William Finn Knew What He Liked, and Made Plenty to Love
The brilliant composer/lyricist is remembered by a Tony-winning collaborator for his unique, unpredictable taste and his fierce but unassuming craft.

@feldmanadam.bsky.social is right, you should go see this play. I'm especially amazed at his sharp eye: He noticed that a painting on the set is Ellis Wilson’s "Funeral Procession," the same one Clair Huxtable bought for her walls in COSBY's second season.🤯 www.timeout.com/newyork/thea...

Literally the first time I've even seen a picture of this senator. I hope Senator Padilla gets louder and takes some real action. California can't have a useless, deadweight senator.

They helped bring us to this point, but at least they recognize this stupidity for what it is. That's more than I can say for a lot of formerly respected news organizations.
That really is quite the headline, from the pretty right-wing Wall Street Journal.

Today, I drove to Portland Community College to be a book in an English as a 2nd Language class. The students could check out about a dozen of us, and ask us questions. It was a room full of communication and empathy. We reached toward each other with open hearts and good humor.

As I work on my play STRANGE BIRDS at UCSB, this poem by Lucille Clifton resonates. It's been rather extraordinary, focusing on the voices of five women (and one wolf!) in this little feminist thriller.
