Professional librarian/amateur sewist in Canada. Primarily here for the sewing posts and TTC notices, but also happy to connect with cataloguing folks, especially fellow instructors.
I loved the Cabbagetown Festival! Wasn’t sure that we’d go at first, as our co-op anniversary party is also today, but glad to have checked out the street party.
The people love a weekend street festival. Cabbagetown!

Unbelievable that the conflict of interest scandal from 2015 managed to pass party vetting... Why can't the Liberal Party of Canada find someone better for Toronto Centre? www.thestar.com/news/gta/cbc...

Interested in seeing what grant funding your state has received through IMLS to get an idea of what you could miss out on? You can see state allotment data, five year plans, and five year evaluations here. www.imls.gov/find-funding...

President Trump's executive order to eliminate the Institute of Museum & Library Services would have disastrous effects for communities nationwide. We call on all Americans who value reading & learning to reach out to their elected leaders.

Sad to see IMLS listed on the chopping block. Weirdly the White House fact sheet (issued March 14, same day as the executive order) is unfinished. Last sentence is incomplete: “…keeping his promise to restore” what?!

I learned last night that sites I’ve consulted a lot in the last few years (despite not being a science librarian) have gone down: the National Institutes of Health (NIH) site, cancer.gov, and even some pages of PubMed.

Date night!
Ten years and one day ago, we went on our first date. We have made this occasion our Valentine’s Day. (With @eleesasee.bsky.social)

Came across this ALA SRRT pamphlet “What is fascism?” Just takes a minute to read and helps to make sense of the chaos happening in the US. My sympathies to my American friends, but also, stand up for democracy in any way you can. sites.google.com/view/srrt-pa...

First sewing project of 2025. Pattern: Butterick #B6332. Outer fabric: burgundy/gold brocade gifted by my neighbour. Lining: rayon. This jacket is basically never going into the washer, or making direct contact with an iron.

For my inaugural post on this app, I’m sharing a few pics of things I’ve made with my hands and a sewing machine. Hello to other sewists on this app! 🙋🏻‍♀️
