All of these new rulings don’t just affect today, they rewrite precedent. Trump still has three years left, and whatever expanded powers the Court hands him now will automatically pass to the next president as well.

50501 South Carolina Substack Day in the life of a grassroots organizer who needs a break: go to bed at 3am wake up in a panic at 6am answer emails and social and and and until rolling out of bed realize all the work you did over the previous two days was eaten by encrypted tech cry while making an espresso redo the work while also fielding emails, social, texts, etc 6:30pm shower 6:50 think, “oh I should eat” (don’t eat) hop on 7pm meeting remember you wanted to eat make some food during the meeting finish meetings at 11pm with a new task list start working on that task list while it’s fresh in your brain rinse, repeat They say all jokes are rooted in reality, and while we’re sharing this in jest, it was actually the day of one of our organizers a few weeks ago. (And yes, she took a break!) The good news: The more engaged organizers and activists we have, the lighter each individual workload gets. Join us?

NEW: A source tells me that response teams for FEMA set to deploy to the South Carolina wildfires are unable to travel because their government issued travel cards have had their limits reduced to $1. FEMA response team cards were supposed to be exempt.

Fun one from today that nobody seems to be clocking amidst all the more substantive chaos. The White House comms department is now declaring that Trump can now "sign [an] executive order into law" without a bill passing Congress. Have never seen this language from a prior White House.
