During the process of working on comic pages for the Cove Creep story, Jeff found it useful to use a Pinterest board where he could collect various image references for things that would appear in the story. Here is a picture showing the multiple references that were used to create the story.

Chris and Jeff always knew they wanted to bring back the character of Philip from the mini-comics run, but when they did, he would have a different look compared to his introduction in issue 13 of the series. Here are some pictures from the design process.

Which was actually a surveying tool used to take soil samples and such. Panel 3: PHILIP [pointing to Heather] This young lady and her phone’s photograph gave us the creature. Panel 4: PHILIP The complaints of strange lights and smells on the beach told us where to look, and the communication problems pointed to the tower above the bluffs here. Panel 5: PHILIP And your mayor has been trying to distract and deflect anyone from digging deeper.
